You shouldn't have to remember Tuesday.

Billable time does not go missing all at once. It goes missing in six-minute pieces, on the days you were too busy to write it down.

Two attorneys at a conference table reviewing unbilled time together on a laptop.

How Time Bro works

  • Capture

Capture the work before you forget it.

Timers you can run several at once, quick notes from any screen, manual entry built for logging a dozen matters in one sitting, and plain-sentence capture: type “1h 30m yesterday for ABC LLP, reviewed the draft settlement” and Time Bro fills in the form.

  • Review

    Find the time you missed.

The Review page shows every weekday in the range, including the days you recorded nothing, because a gap you cannot see is a gap you never fill. It flags entries with no narrative and timers you stopped but never saved, and totals what is still unbilled at each entry's own rate.

  • Bill

Bill it once. Bill it right.

Time already on an invoice is never offered again, so the same hour cannot be billed twice. Before an invoice renders, Time Bro checks that the timekeeper totals, the fee line, and the grand total all agree. If they do not reconcile, it does not print.

Small gaps become real money.

At $450 an hour, six minutes is $45. Miss one 0.1 every working day and that is over $11,000 of billable time in a year.

Your memory is not a timesheet. Time Bro is built to catch the gaps.

One missed 0.1 at $450/hr $45
Every working day, for a year × 250
Billable time you never invoiced $11,250

Everything you need to bill your work. Designed for the way attorneys actually bill.

  • No-charge work, shown not deleted.

Write off a consultation and the entry keeps its hours and its rate, so the work stays in your record and your utilization. The invoice prints the value struck through, labeled NO CHARGE, adding nothing to the total.

  • Privileged narratives, redacted properly.

Flag an entry and its description prints as a solid black bar. The words are never written into the PDF at all, so they cannot be recovered by selecting, copying, or extracting text from the file.

  • Every billing arrangement your practice actually uses.

Hourly, flat fee, monthly retainer, contingency with status, or hybrid. Time still tracks against flat-fee and contingency matters and counts toward profitability, without ever billing at hours times rate.

  • Rates that follow the timekeeper.

Two attorneys and a paralegal on one matter bill at three different rates, on one invoice, reconciled.

  • A 30-day safety net.

Clients, matters, entries, notes, and expenses are restorable for 30 days. Deleting a matter you flagged high-stakes shows you what would go with it and makes you type its name first.

Client-ready invoices. Your work. Your brand. Your call.

Every time entry becomes a clean, itemized PDF. Choose how much of Time Bro shows up on it.

Timekeeper rates. Expenses and disbursements. No-charge work. Privileged narrative redaction. Your firm's letterhead. Wire details you choose whether to print.

Your client data never leaves your machine.

Time Bro is a desktop application. Your clients, matters, and time live in a single encrypted file on your own computer.

  • Encrypted at rest. SQLCipher, with a 256-bit key wrapped under your password.
  • No server, no account, no telemetry. There is no cloud database holding your matters, no analytics, and no crash reporting.
  • No vendor backdoor. We cannot reset your password and read your database, because we never hold the key. That is also why your recovery code matters.
  • Locks itself. The screen locks after an idle period you set, and when your computer sleeps. A locked session refuses to return data at all.
  • Warns you about synced folders. Keeping the database in OneDrive or Dropbox is a common instinct and a common way to corrupt it. Time Bro says so before you do it.

Built by lawyers who got tired of reconstructing Tuesday.

  • Founded by two attorneys who know billable time firsthand.

We built Time Bro to solve the real-world billing challenges we faced as practicing attorneys.

  • Built by attorneys for attorneys.

Legal expertise isn't a feature. It's our foundation.

  • Local-first. Your data. Your control.

Powerful legal time & billing software that keeps your data on your computer.

Your data, in formats you can leave with.

Five reports covering revenue, client activity, matter profitability, utilization, and year over year, each exporting to CSV. Import clients, matters, and time entries from CSV or Excel with column mapping and inline error fixing. Nothing is locked in.

Before you install, please read this

  • This is beta software. It is still under active development and may contain bugs, incomplete features, and behavior that changes between releases.
  • Do not rely on it as your only record. Keep your existing timekeeping and billing records, and verify any time entries, invoices, and reports before you send or file them.
  • Back up your data. Your data is stored locally on your computer. Copy your Time Bro data regularly, and keep those copies somewhere safe. Beta updates may change the data format, and downgrading to an earlier version is not supported.
  • Windows may warn you about the installer. New installers can trigger a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prompt until they build up reputation. Only download Time Bro from this page or from the official releases page, and never from a mirror or a link someone sends you.
  • No warranty. The beta is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and you use it at your own risk. It is software for running your practice, not legal, accounting, or tax advice.
